Abstract

The images that satisfy me the most have elements of abstraction.  I like exploring the underlying patterns, shapes, tones, and color of a scene.  Sometimes this leads me to an idea in which the original realism of a scene gets significantly altered or removed – an abstraction.

The more removed from reality a scene or image is, the more abstract it becomes.   What remains is a concept.  Perhaps something entirely new is created.  At its most successful, abstraction attains a universality that I find quite powerful.
